This interactive seminar explores various forms of racism across and how it manifests in varying sectors of our daily lives. Participants will gain a better understanding of individual, cultural, institutional, structural, and systemic racism and explore ways of abolishing oppression and bias in their personal and professional lives. Some attention will be given to the concepts of implicit bias and racial microaggressions as a way to help participants understand how racism is rooted in whiteness as a cultural norm. 

Objectives/Outcomes include

  • Understanding various forms of racism (e.g., individual, cultural, institutional, structural, systemic)
  • Understand an examine implicit bias and racial microaggressions
  • Explore ways to combat racism in one's personal and professional lives
