Welcome to ATHENA WIN, the Women's Interest Network - the organization for Mid-Michigan's most influential Women

Executive Connections

Executive Connections is a group for executive women who meet monthly to connect with and support one another toward growth and development in their executive roles.  This confidential group of powerful leaders provide one another with ideas, shared experiences, and important networking contacts, while engaging in learning activities to strengthen, grow, and develop in leadership.

Executive Connections provides a variety of experiences, including professionally facilitated group sharing and discussion and field trips to learn from women executives by visiting and touring their Companies while learning about their work and their journey.

Discussions are guided by the principles of the Athena Leadership Model (a copy of which is included with registration). The model includes 8 principles that are reflective of women’s contributions to leadership; principles which group members aspire to embody in order to grow and develop their leadership capacity.  These principles provide the structure inside of which members seek to grow personally and professionally. They include:

  • Living authentically
  • Learning constantly
  • Advocating fiercely
  • Acting courageously
  • Fostering collaboration
  • Building relationships
  • Giving back
  • Celebrating

These 8 principles combine with the strongest aspects of traditional leadership – taking risks, assertiveness and hard work, to provide the structure inside of which members seek to grow personally and professionally.  EC supports the growth of transformative styles of leadership closely tied to the intuitive strengths that women bring to leadership.

Executive Connections will launch with a reception on September 21 , from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. at the University Club. Two discussion groups will meet from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. on the second Tuesday and third Wednesday of each month from October through June. To apply for this selective program, please click here and submit your application by September 30. Those interested are also welcomed to attend reception, or contact Karen Grannemann at (517) 353-5620 for more information.
